Objectives:

The following are the goals of the Internal Complaint Committee to Prevent Sexual    Harassment of Women at Work:

  • To create a policy at the Institute prohibiting the sexual harassment of women.
  • To make sure that the policy is followed in letter and spirit by appropriately reporting complaints and handling their follow-up.
  • Should respect the Institute's pledge to establish a gender-neutral environment.
  • To encourage a psychological and social milieu that would increase consciousness regarding sexual harassment in all of its manifestations.
  • To prevent any act of sexual harassment by establishing a safe, secure, and sociable workplace.
  • To develop an ongoing system at the Institute for the avoidance and resolution of cases of sexual harassment and other gender-based violence.

 

Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) Responsibilities:

The ICC is responsible for the following:

(a) Supporting staff or students who wish to report something to the police;

(b) Offer channels for communication and dispute resolution so that problems can be foreseen

and resolved through just and equitable conciliation without violating the rights of the complaint and reduce the need for only punitive measures that fuel animosity, estrangement, or violence;

(c) Safeguard the complainant's safety by withholding their identity;

(d) Ensure that victims or witnesses are not victimized or subjected to discrimination while

 handling complaints of sexual harassment; and

(e) Ensure that it is prohibited to take adverse action or retaliate against an employee or student because they are participating in protected activity. The mandatory relief measures may include authorized leave, a relaxation of the attendance requirement, a transfer to another department or supervisor, or even the transfer of the offender.
